Welcome to The Brutalitarian
This is the theory center of Brute Press. It is published on no regular cycle, as often as we can find willing contributors. If you are interested in contributing, please see our About page for contact information.
Theory, for these purposes, is a very broad category. Generally, one might call the essays that appear here “non-fiction”. Then again, everything that appears here might not be limited to essays. We came to the decision that we would not like to undergo a post-modern bullshit session in the process of launching our theory center, as it would be very annoying, and might scare away good-natured, non-jerk participants and readers. Instead, we found the oldest, whitest, most phallocentric, eurocentric, heliocentric patriarch-king that we could, and asked him to launch our theory center by regal, executive, binding, non-democratic decree.
From the Desk of His Holy Majesty Dr. Gen. Europe A. Obelisk:
I hereby degree, on this day, the Ninth of November, year of our Internet Two-Thousand-and-Eight:
Whereas, writers, publishers, poets, artists, musicians and everyday folk are habitually of the habit of thinking;
Whereas, thoughts are often thought, but not nearly as often committed to the Record;
Whereas, the Record, being of any media, is important towards a grand summation of Thought;
Whereas, Thought, upon being summed, necessarily gets us either further or closer to the perennial thought known colloquially as Truth;
Therefore: there shall be a collection of material maintained, and bound via any technological means at hand into a Record, which shall seek to compile various musings upon the difficulties, eases, boundaries, thoroughfares, processes and deadenings of Thought, from this day until the unbinding of all eternities and the resolution of all Truth, for the end purpose that one day all humankind may seek to be Right, and ultimately Correct, about Something.
